Admittance to Agapeland is granted to children of any race, color, national or ethnic origin whose parent(s) are in agreement with our Tenets of Faith (see attached).
We ask for a minimum of 2 weeks notice of vacation plans or withdrawal, in writing, to the Agapeland office. If for some reason you need to withdraw your child temporarily, the following policy applies:
- Two-week notice in writing with expected date of return.
(Original to Sandy Morgan, cc: Carol Gomes)
- Advance payment of ½ month’s fee for each month’s absence, which is applicable to month returning, but non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Advance payment of the full month’s fee for the month of the child’s return to Agapeland. This also is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Please be aware that this is the only way we can hold a child’s space in the program.
HEALTH
A birth certificate and completed health form must be submitted before a child may attend our childcare center. All immunization records must be up-to-date, as required by law, before your child will be allowed to attend class.
The following immunization shots are required for children in childcare under the age of 5 by the Middlesex County Board of Health.
- (4) DTP
- (3) Polio
- (1) MMR/after 1st birthday
- (1) HIB/after 1st birthday
We ask that children come to the center healthy. If your child has any of the following symptoms, please do not bring them to Agapeland that day.
- Diarrhea
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Fever
- Rash
- Excessive irritability
- Green or yellow nasal drainage
- Eye infection
If any of these, or similar symptoms are observed by the Director of Agapeland, Agapeland staff, or the school nurse, a parent will be notified, and the child must be picked up within a reasonable amount of time (this is considered to be a maximum of 2 hours). Please note that any child sent home due to a fever may not return to Agapeland for 2 full days. Any child sent home due to pink eye (conjunctivitis), or ring worm (any of the 4 types), may not return for 2 full days, and then only with a doctor’s note.
Dispensing medication to all of our children is difficult to manage. Therefore, we must insist that the following instructions be adhered to strictly:
- Complete instructions in writing, (last time given on prescription, exact time to be given, and exact amount) signed by the parent. Verbal instructions are not acceptable.
- Your doctor must prescribe all medication. Please have the proper spoons and/or cups for liquid medication, and please be sure to keep it in its original container, or medication will not be given.
- A doctor’s note must be attached to the letter of instruction.
- If your child has severe allergies requiring the occasional use of a nebulizer, or an
EpiPen, it is the responsibility of the parent to instruct the teacher in the proper use of
each medical apparatus, and to insure that the prescriptions are kept up to date.
CLOTHING
Each child is to bring a complete change of clothes for emergency purposes. Clothing should be changed seasonally. Please bring these items on the first day. Any article of clothing that is brought into Agapeland must be labeled with the child’s name. The clothing we ask you to bring is as follows:
- Top clothing (outfit)
- Underwear
- Socks
- Small blanket (sent home last day of the week to be washed, and brought back the following Monday)
- An Agapeland blanket bag (can be purchased from the front office)
CHILDREN IN DIAPERS
Pampers or pull-ups are to be worn by children who are not toilet trained. A supply of diapers and wipes (supplied by the parents) must be kept at the center and replaced as needed. Children are to be dressed in outfits with snaps or loose fitting two-piece outfits.
Children that are not potty-trained will not be allowed in any class but Agapeland II.
DRESS CODE
Children will be playing a large part of their day. For their comfort and convenience we request sweat suits or loose fitting separates with easy pull down pants and sneakers. During winter months children must wear a hat and gloves, as outside play is a part of the daily schedule all year.
JEWELRY
Because of the danger created, children may not wear bracelets, or necklaces of any type in Agapeland. Girls may wear earrings of the post type only, nothing dangling, and no loops please.
VISITING
Parents are welcome to visit Agapeland at any time. We require check-in at the reception desk and a pass will be given to you. This procedure is required for all visitors. When necessary you may make an appointment to speak with the Director of Agapeland or teachers. They cannot conduct a meeting while they are supervising children.
Please direct all administrative (non-tuition) inquiries to the Director’s office:
- (732) 727-9500 ext. 1119, 2103, or 2106
- Office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (M-F)
LUNCH & SNACKS
Agapeland will provide two nutritious snacks daily at approximately 2:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Lunch is 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon (approximately). When sending lunch from home, please note that only standard lunch boxes with a thermos are acceptable. No glass bottles and no soda please. We ask and encourage parents to please prepare a nutritious lunch for their children. Also, please be aware that no microwave is available to heat children’s lunches. Any necessary utensils, and paper goods (bowls, plates, etc.) for eating lunch are the responsibility of the parent.
DISCIPLINE
We are a Christian childcare, and expect godly standards of behavior. We believe that 2 through 6 year olds are capable of, and should exhibit respectful and obedient behavior toward all adult workers, as well as kindness to their fellow playmates. We reward appropriate behavior and correct inappropriate behavior on an age appropriate basis. We do not practice corporal punishment, but do believe it is a parental responsibility to correct the child. Of course, parental discipline should always be appropriate to the child’s age.
In the unfortunate event that a parent refuses to comply with our recommendation, and/or the child’s behavior is unchanged, that child will be removed from Agapeland at the Director’s discretion. An Improper Behavior Policy form will be sent home at that time. Listed below are the rewards that may be given to the children in our care at Agapeland.
- Verbal praise
- Stickers/stars
- Good news note sent home
The Corrective actions taken may be:
- Verbal warning
- Time out
- Sent to Supervisor
- Contact parents/meet with Director if necessary
