EDUCATION

FAITH INTERNATIONAL TRAINING SCHOOL (FITS)

ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS

THE WORLD IS IN YOUR HANDS

“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor
and attended to with diligence.”
Abigail Adams

The faculty and staff at Faith International Training School are committed to your success. The following guidelines are provided to outline our expectations and to ensure that your time is fruitful and productive. If you have any questions regarding these policies, please feel free to contact our office.

Integrity
All students should adhere to high moral principles and standards. In this program all students are expected to exercise honesty in all forms of communication — written or spoken.

Respect
Students come from diverse backgrounds and have had different experiences and interpretations of these experiences, Although it is not necessary to agree with the instructor or other members of the class, it is expected that all participants will be respected and given the opportunity to express their thoughts and perspectives.

Attendance
Each course is designed to be a vital part of this program. Therefore, each student is expected to attend and be an active member of each class. In the event that an absence is unavoidable, it is the student’s responsibility to acquire what was missed in class. Nevertheless, your grade may be lowered due to absences or lateness. You cannot miss more than 3 class hours and successfully pass a course.

Assignments
It is expected that all assignments will be submitted on a scheduled date. Late assignments will result in a reduction of available grade points. If an emergency prohibits submitting an assignment on the scheduled date, students should notify the instructor and arrange an alternate date on or before the scheduled date.
All assignments should be typed and must follow APA rules and guidelines, to ensure clear and consistent presentation of written material. (see Style Tips at http://APAstyle.APA.org)
Plagiarism is grounds for dismissal.

REGISTRATION POLICIES

Class Selection
Please make sure your classes are clearly marked on your registration form. Course changes will be processed without penalty until the end of the third week of classes provided the correct form is submitted.

Registration and Payment
All registrations and payments must be submitted to the Registrar on or before the first day/evening of classes. Late registrations will be charged a $25.00 late fee (see application form for late date)

Withdrawal
A student may withdraw from the program without penalty until the end of the third week of classes. A full tuition reimbursement will be provided upon submission of the appropriate request form. This does not include application and late fees. We do not prorate your time in the course. After the third week there will be no reimbursement.

Pass/Fail
Classes can be registered for on a Pass/Fail basis rather than for a numerical grade. A “P” or “F” would designate this.

A Pass/Fail grade would entitle you to the same course credit, but would have no numerical value, therefore would have no impact, positive or negative, on your average. You would be required to complete all assigned course work. This designation must be decided upon when you register, or changed within the first three weeks of classes by submitting the appropriate form.

Audit
A student may Audit classes by designating this on the registration form, or changing to that designation within the first three weeks of classes.

In this case, the student is taking classes without academic responsibility (not required to complete assignments or take tests) and does not receive credit for courses. A certificate will not be issued for audited classes.

PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS

Course Incomplete
If for whatever reason you do not complete your course requirements and receive an "incomplete" (Inc.) for your grade, you have 30 days to complete the requirements of the course. All unresolved incomplete grades turn to a failing grade “F” after 30 days.

Course Failure

Course failure will result from:

  • Failure to take exams
  • Failure to complete given assignments
  • Four absences
  • Excessive lateness
The following applies where necessary:
  • Any student failing two or more courses will be placed on Academic Probation.
  • If the student fails any courses the following semester, he/she will be required to change to Audit status or withdraw from the school.

Test Papers
Test papers will be available no sooner than two weeks after the test date. If you will not be able to pick up your exam (s) please provide a stamped, selfaddressed envelope to return your test if you want it. Any unclaimed papers will be disposed of. At the end of the school year, you will be mailed a transcript of your year's grades. We recommend that you get and keep your test papers in case there are any discrepancies in our records. Students are responsible to keep a copy of the original test papers in the event that their paper is misplaced or lost. Students need to be able to furnish a copy of their work if requested by their professors and/or administration. The school and/or its teachers are not responsible for original work. Make up tests must be finished and/or submitted within two weeks of the date of the exam or when the term paper was due. All incompletes must be resolved within 30 days. A grade of incomplete “INC” will be turned to an failing grade, an “F” if not resolved within 30 days.

Parking
Please do not park in the areas designated for Pastor, ministers or the handicapped (if you are not handicapped). While not always in use, we prefer to keep them clear at all times. There is more than enough parking during classes for everyone.

Dress Code
We are a Christian school and our manner of dress must reflect that.. Dress should be “business casual,” neat and presentable.

Cancellation of Classes
If classes are to be cancelled due to a special meeting, you will be notified well in advance. If the church office is closed due to bad weather, school is cancelled. The message will generally be changed at our general number (732-727-9500) to inform callers of our status. School closing announcements will be made on WAWZ 99.1 FM. As far as the rest of the day, we will announce closings as the situation warrants. Specific instructions concerning FITS will be left on the voice mail of ext. 2288. By 7:30 a.m. the message on ext. 2288 will be changed if morning classes are cancelled. Evening students should check later in the day if conditions improve. If you are unable to get through by phone, or are uncertain, please use wisdom. Call the office regarding holiday closings.

Please do not call the Emergency Hot Line for any problems or information as this line is for extreme emergencies only.
